Our C9-11 Alcohols and C12-15 Primary Alcohols can replace the following international grades. Actual values are subject to each batch COA (trademarks belong to their respective owners).

CAS 66455-17-2

C9-11 Alcohols — Equivalent Grades

Mixed primary alcohols · 911 alcohol

ShellNEODOL 91 / Linevol 911
SasolDobanol 91
IneosAlfol 911

Downstream derivatives: C9-11 alcohol ethoxylate (CAS 68439-46-3), a low foam nonionic surfactant for low-foam water-based cleaning systems; also used as a coupling agent in metalworking fluids and as a hydrotrope.

CAS 68603-25-8

C12-15 Alcohols — Equivalent Grades

Linear primary alcohols · lauryl myristyl alcohol

ShellNEODOL 25 / Dobanol 25
IneosAlfol 1215
VersalisLial 125

Downstream derivatives: C12-15 pareth-7 / pareth-9 (CAS 68131-39-5) — linear alcohol ethoxylates (LAE surfactant) widely used in laundry liquids, and a mainstream NP-10 replacement (APEO-free); further esterified into C12-15 alkyl benzoate for personal care.

FAQ

Technical FAQ

What are C9-11 alcohols?

C9-11 alcohols are a blend of C9, C10 and C11 primary alcohols (CAS 66455-17-2), also called 911 alcohol — a clear, colorless liquid with hydroxyl value 342–355 mgKOH/g. Mainly used for C9-11 alcohol ethoxylates (AE) and ethoxysulfates (AES), plus lube oils and industrial cleaning.

C9-11 alcohol vs AEO-9 — what is the difference?

AEO-9 is a finished nonionic surfactant made by ethoxylating C12-14 alcohols with 9 mol EO; C9-11 alcohol is the upstream feedstock. Ethoxylated C9-11 alcohols give shorter chains, lower cloud points and lower foam — better for low-foam cleaning systems.

C12-15 alcohol vs AES — what is the difference?

AES (fatty alcohol ether sulfate) is the anionic surfactant produced by sulfating alcohol ethoxylates; C12-15 primary alcohol (CAS 68603-25-8) is the basic feedstock for AES/AE production. They are upstream and downstream of each other, not substitutes.

How is the cloud point of alcohol ethoxylates tested?

Typically per GB/T 5559 or ISO methods: prepare a 1% aqueous solution, heat with stirring, and record the temperature where the solution turns cloudy. C9-11 alcohol ethoxylates are a low-foam series with lower cloud points; we provide selection support and reference data.
